I have had a few people ask me about the professionalism of the content that they will write for the Write-Athon. Many are worried that they wont have time to sit and write a paper with proper grammar. And that is great! I am not interested in how well you write, but more importantly what you write. For those of you that have not done any blog writing in the past the most important thing, contrary to what you were taught in English class, is what you are saying and not how you are saying it. When you sit down and just let your creative imagination run away with the pen thats in your hand you find intriguing stories and information that people want to read about. Learning from people that have had the same experiences and know how to conquer the war is encouraging.
Let your personality shine through your writing.
Don’t treat this Write-Athon like you would a writing assignment for English class. Find a topic that you are really interested in, something that you love or are passionate about. Take a few minutes to think about the topic and then just start writing down your thoughts. Relax there is no pressure, no commitment, and only a few hundred people reading.
Write your articles in a way that would encourage comments from others that want to express their opinions and insights. We are not looking for a how to guide or a 5 page paper we just want you to share your thoughts and feelings on some of the topics that you are passionate about.
There has to be something that you have kept bottled up inside because you don’t think anyone will listen or understand you. Now is the time to let those thoughts fly! You will be surprised at the response you will get from people who know exactly how you feel.
I am not expecting that each of you will be professional writers or that your articles will have the appropriate grammar and spelling. I am interested in the stories you have to tell and the lessons others can learn from listing.
